Laura Morse joins JASCO Applied Sciences (USA) Inc. as Director of Strategic Programs

July 2024 – JASCO Applied Sciences (USA) Inc. welcomes new Director of Strategic Programs, Laura Morse.


Ms. Morse brings more than 30 years’ expertise as a marine biologist and environmental specialist, with an extensive history in environmental management and project/program leadership aimed at advancing offshore energy initiatives. Her expertise spans regulatory policy, marine resource conservation, and collaboration with diverse groups of marine science experts and resource stakeholders. She specializes in translating science into regulatory actions and has leveraged that expertise to bridge the gap of understanding between diverse points of view.

Prior to joining JASCO, Laura served as the Director of Environmental Compliance and Strategy at Invenergy. She played a crucial role on their Offshore Wind development team, specializing in offshore wind power initiatives in the U.S. and driving strategic programs forward.

Previously, Laura held Program Manager positions at Mainstream Renewable Energy, Orsted (North America) and Shell USA, where she was also integral to their development team as an expert in offshore wind power and oil and gas projects. Her responsibilities included engaging with regulatory bodies, environmental organizations, and community stakeholders. She was instrumental in acquiring and complying with various local, state, and federal permits and developing mitigation and monitoring programs.  She also led the development of U.S environmental commitment strategies aligned with global sustainability goals and developed and advanced multiple strategic marine science programs and data sharing initiatives.

At the outset of her career, Laura worked as a marine biologist globally and is a recognized expert in marine mammal identification and detection. Her experience extends to application and utilization of a range of technologies for automatic detection of marine wildlife, real time data sharing and accelerating development of innovative solutions that bring conservation value and allow for greater flexibility for maritime activities .

As JASCO’s Director of Strategic Programs, Laura will focus on business and program development, external engagement, thought leadership, and project management initiatives. She will oversee the development of JASCO business lines, lead the advancement and management of strategic programs and projects, and provide advisory services for clients. Laura will represent JASCO as a marine mammal subject matter expert and engage with regulatory agencies on marine environment regulations and policies. Additionally, she will provide support to field teams in developing passive acoustic and visual mitigation and monitoring programs. 

Laura holds a M.S in Coastal Zone Management from Nova Southeastern University, a B.S. in Biological Sciences and a B.A in Anthropology from State University of New York at Buffalo. She also completed the Project Management Professional Certification (PMP) program in 2017.
